Night markets

Fridays
Bophut - Fisherman’s village night market is open from 5 pm till 11pm and is the largest on Samui. Large amount of street food and clothing as well as souvenirs and gifts. As the road is closed to traffic you will need to park outside the village and walk in. There is also an excellent selection of restaurants.

Saturdays
Nathon [the capital] walking street is along a minor street between the main [one way] road and the beach road. Starts around 5pm onwards.  Prices are usually a bit cheaper than other markets.

Chaweng - There is a good selection of stalls outside the Central Festival Mall in the outdoor car park.

Sundays
Sunday Lamai Street Market -
Street musicians, grilled octopus, fried insects, exotic fruits, and numerous purchasable mementos on the counters.

Tuesdays
Chaweng - Opposite the lake on a one way system and also near the northern end of the boundary wall for Centara Grand.  Both start around 5pm and are small.

Wednesdays
Choeng Mon - outside Muang Samui hotel. Miniature floating market theme. Open from 5 pm onwards along both sides of the main road. Roads are not closed to traffic. Quite a good variety of food and goods.

Thursdays
Maenam - main intersection down to the beach. Open from 5pm onwards. Traffic is closed to the 2 side streets leading down to Maenam beach. Relaxed and more laid back than Bophut and has a more local feel about it. Great selection of food and many times there’s a show outside the Chinese temple.

Daily

Chaweng - has market type tourist stalls along the beach road daily.

Bangrak Night Market offers an array of street food, local crafts and a lively atmosphere.

Elephant Walk is a market in Fisherman's Village but its not as long as Fishermans Village Walking Street.

Lamai -
This market sells a huge amount of knockoff items.  Starts from 5 pm onwards and not as large as Bophut.

Top attractions

Ang Thong National Marine Park

Ang Thong National Marine Park is a pristine archipelago of 42 islands in the Gulf of Thailand. Expect to see towering limestone mountains, thick jungle, white-sand beaches, fertile mangroves, waterfalls and hidden coves and lakes.

Big Buddha
Known locally as Wat Phra Yai, the golden, 12-metre seated Buddha statue was built in 1972 and remains one of the island’s most popular attractions.

Hin Ta and Hin Yai Rocks
Located in Lamai Beach, the natural geological formations known as Hin Ta and Hin Yai Rocks (the Grandpa and Grandma rocks) resemble the male and female genitalia.

Na Muang Waterfalls
Of all the waterfalls in Koh Samui, the two Na Muang waterfalls are probably the most picturesque. The name Na Muang refers to the massive purple rocks at the waterfalls. Rocks and tree roots form a natural staircase that leads to the base of Na Muang 1. A large natural pool sits under the waterfall. A 10-minute walk further up the mountain leads to Samui's most beautiful waterfall, Na Muang 2.

Secret Buddha Garden
Secret Buddha Garden, also known as Magic Garden and Heaven's Garden and Tarnim Magic Garden is a private sculpture park atop Pom Mountain, one of the highest peaks on the resort island of Ko Samui in Surat Thani Province, Thailand.

Wat Plai Laem
Located near the Big Buddha in the north of the island, Wat Plai Laem is a modern temple created in recent times.

Ladyboy Cabarets
The very entertaining Ladyboy Cabarets features predominantly in shows along Chaweng Beach.
